I missed the stop where I get off my bus today, true story. I dozed and and woke up to the bus pulling away from the cross streets I've gotten off countless times 4 blocks from my office.
My first reaction was irritation and frustration for having missed it, stupid, stupid. Then, I realized, seriously, this was a good thing. There was a Peets right around the corner from where I exited the bus, I got another 10-20 minutes of sleep (which was desperately needed after my daughter waking me up with her nightmares last night) and a longer walk to my office was not a bad thing. And when realizing this, I actually smiled. It must have been contagious, because a person walking by on the street smiled back. I joked with a few people in line at Peets, and even made an elderly man laugh, really laugh. On my way to work, I remembered that the first thing my mother-in-law said to me this morning was "wow, you look great Jenn", followed shortly thereafter by "can I hug you?". I mean, really? Of course! By the time I made it to the office, my mood was completely changed and I was ready to tackle this Friday. Bring it on!
Much love.
